In honor and memory of Don Edens, who was tragically killed in a plane crash while serving Empire Corporation on September 3rd, 2014, we are proud to announce The Don Edens Memorial Fund. Don’s life was devoted to spending every day as a follower of Christ. He lived out that ministry as a devoted husband and father, in overseas mission work as well as serving in the local church, and through his work as a project manager with Empire. His faith was always present in the relationships that he developed and nurtured whether it was with his family or the people he dealt with daily on his projects. After graduating from The Citadel in 1992, Don served thirteen years in the Marine Corps as a pilot before coming back home to Knoxville and joining Empire in 2005. As a project manager, he built strong relationships with developers and subcontractors while mentoring the men and women under his authority. Don was responsible for completing numerous complex housing projects throughout the Southeastern United States. He epitomized the Marine Corps slogan, Semper Fidelis, which means “always faithful.” In honor and memory of Don’s faith and a life well-lived, the Memorial Golf Tournament proceeds will be used to establish an Education Fund for Don and Kim’s four children, Sarah, Hannah, David, and Jonathan. We are honored to hold this event to celebrate Don's life.
